So here we are into 2020 with all our aims and energies to Make It Happen yet again. That time of the year when everyone is charged up with their exciting plans, bigger and better goals. Some of us will end up being superstars and some will feel better being a black belt in procrastination this year too:). It’s critical to understand what exactly it takes to drive performance and to achieve results which matter the most. Starting new journey with old mindset or tools won’t help for sure. Thought to share thoughts and ideas, well tools in particular, on how we can jump into 2020 to make it count.
So I call them WMT’s (Weapons of Mass Transformation), let’s get to know them:)
Create Pit stop for yourself: (The Purpose)
The great Edison was use to spend a lot of time at his lab in Menlo Park every day, a spot close to his place where he was not only able to experiment with his thought process but also a place where his innovation clicked like never before. Guess we all need to find or create our spot to design, to ask what we are driving for and what is driving us? This year try and find your “Menlo Park”, where you just not only get to think about ideas of self-transformation but can also redefine your bigger canvas of life. Where you can engage yourself in a tangible discussion about what is working for you and what’s not? Are you using your energies in the right direction? Channelizing your passion into something meaningful? Do you need to start playing sports that can help you generate better ideas and keep you healthy? This will not only reenergize you but will also give you a chance to reboot yourself. Do it!!
(PS: Please start with basics, no rocket science please)
Redefine your Will: (The Pathway)
Something that we all take for granted for sure. Understanding “Willingness” is very important as it serves as the centripetal force for us to drive performance but unfortunately most of the time this tool is not channelized to achieve sustainable results. It’s critical that our will to make pathways is utilized in a way that we are able to craft deliverable which speaks of how it served as a key tool. Also, please try and keep a check on your Willingness Index to ensure that you stay fueled :). Jumping into everything just because you are always willing to take new challenges would drain you out, pick your battles wisely and don’t let situations or circumstances drive you for something which was not worth it. Think; think twice before you engage yourself in a task which is nothing but regret for you.
Redefine Your USP: (You’re Persona)
Times are changing and changing rapidly. Something that worked for you a week ago is obsolete now. Try and equip yourself with multidimensional skillet, be your competition and raise the bar for yourself every day. How you let others tag you depends totally on you. Are you someone who is always stuck in memory lane? Someone who is a doer or someone who is a known as a “will do it a later dude”. Passion, intent and actions need to be synced in a way that you get tangible results and if not then lessons which can be used in future to create something meaningful. The old formula of using knowledge and Skills to drive actions and get results still work by the way, so use it!!
Doubt it? Let other’s do it!
“Don’t think this will work”.
Let this phrase belong to the crowd. Make sure once you start your journey, you don’t doubt it till you get to the finish line. Say it when you mean it and mean it when you say it is the Mantra. All you need to do is to make sure that the quality of work you do, thought process you adopt, competence you establish, skills you acquire and the way you establish your persona, your brand is nothing but best in class. Your perseverance is equipped with tools to make it count for you; your understanding of scenario’s and times is meaningful, much deeper than the rest in business and once you kickoff something, your work should speak for you!
No Sympathy for yourself, Please! (Earn It):
Don’t sympathize yourself and never let others do it. Selling your story of how tough it was for you will not matter. Talk about tools, talk about stories of resilience and passion. Remember you asked yourself what drives you when you parked yourself at the pit-stop? Don’t forget that. Keep the journey alive by being someone who knows where he/she is heading towards. Ambiguity can only be killed by Agility, don’t forget that. Once you become someone who know his will/skill matrix, everything else around you will be auto-customized.
I always emphasize on 1 thing while talking to my friends, colleagues, customers, stakeholders and especially when I am talking to myself, getting brilliant results with average efforts can be the biggest misfortune that can ever happen to someone. Don’t be that someone, don’t be someone who has everything banked on chance, design it for yourself and change it before change is forced on you.
Have a super rocking 2020 everyone, Make It Happen 🙂
Cheers!
